Elevator Line: A young girl undergoes intense training to face her fear of….kittens.

Theme: Facing Fears

Premise/Explanation of Theme: The best way to conquer one’s fear is to face it head on.

Short Synopsis: The Main character's name is Mae, a 12 year old girl who is a shy and introverted middle school student .It’s 11:41 in the morning, Mae is having lunch in the school's courtyard with her two best friends, Stacey and Amber, when her crush, Coree, approaches their table and seems to be looking for something. As Coree walks up to the table a baby kitten jumps out of the tree and lands on-top of the lunch table. Mae has a panic attack and becomes embarrassed when she realizes Coree is watching her and she rushes off to the girl’s bathroom. She washes her face trying to pull herself together. Looking into the mirror, Mae decides she never wants to be embarrassed like that again, so she plans to overcome her fear of kittens. After school her friends help train her to be unafraid of kittens by setting up an obstacle course of paper cats and toy cats to help prepare her for the real thing. When Mae, faces a real cat she cracks under pressure and runs away to the lake behind the school and begins to cry. She hears the baby kitten's cry or help though her sobs. When the kitten is in danger of drowning Mae finds courage and saves the kitten. Coree witnesses her courageous act and gives her a kiss on the cheek for saving his kitten.

Genre: Comedy and Drama

Tone and execution: Light-hearted, Playful and funny. Color palette consistences of broad range of Muted and chromatic grey color palettes.

Target Audience: girls 8-14 years old 

Cover Letter and Resume for Jabberblabber Inc.

After some extensive research on this company I've decided to create a cover letter and apply for an internship position at Jabberblabber Inc. It seems as though it might be a good fit for me as of right now. I know there are things I have to workout on this cover letter before I send it off so it's a good thing we're working on editing this in class today.

I want to add the same design on my cover letter so it can match my resume but that might not be the wisest thing to do in the world.....but whatever :)

Demo Reel

I plan to have two demo reels before I leave MCA. An animation reel and a character design reel. I will work on the Character design reel first because it's easier and takes less time and I already have many characters that I've created and really need to do something with. I will post the layout of both demo reels will look in the near future.

I also may apply to Prodigy Arts for an internship since they really seem like they want to be involved with MCA students. 

Where to go Next for BFA

For the last and final time for my BFA project I will be creating a character turn around sheet for each of my 5 characters (Mae, Carie, Amber, Coree, and Milo the kitten). Each will have 5 different views and I will have a character height sheet for each one. After that I will create character emotions and gesture sheets for each one to show their personalities and next I will have a color palette for the piece created. The next step is to have the backgrounds sketched out and complete! Then the storyboard is next.

All of this I plan to have created and done before November 1, 2013. After Novemeber 1, I will have the backgrounds complete and then I will be ready to to the under drawings/gestural drawings of the characters complete so next semester I will do clean up work, add sound, and be done with this project!

Resume Update

Of course this isn't my final Resume. I will consistently update my resume and change my objective for every position I apply for if necessary but here is where I am at this point in time. Enjoy :)

Sketches of the others

Here are some sketches of the other characters. I've decided that I will have turn around sheets and expressions for them all by next week. Then the storyboard will be complete the week after that. Then I will be creating my backgrounds for this piece and then begin animating the under drawings to get my movements the way I want them so by next semester I can focus on cleaning up my animation and add sound to it. Hopefully this all goes well.

Since this task was thrust upon me on such short notice I am only entering 1 artwork for this year's contest. I had so many things to do over the weekend so I didn't have time for anything else. Sorry Jill :)

Mae color design options

New Demo Reel Ideas

Okay so in critic earlier today while I was presenting my demo reel......it didn't go too well. There was a better suggestion given to me; why not create a demo reel that shows off my skills as a character and designer. Though initially I though about having character designs and background designs on my reel but not a reel dedicated solely to character designs and background designs. I really like that idea, so......for this semester I will be focusing more on character and background designs more and more on my animation reel next semester.


I will post demo reel examples of character and environmental design reels and artists that I like when it comes to character and environment designs. Also I will post tutorials about character designing and storyboarding.

For Next class

For next class I will have a fully realized storyboard, my character turn around, character design sheets, character emotion sheets, and a sheet where we see all the characters all lined up next to each other.

My characters are as follows:
